Optical Sensors

Optical Fiber Sensors

Optical fibres are widely used in industrial applications namely in structural health monitoring, and for imaging applications. Our groups major focus is on designing long range fibre sensors for a number of applications ranging from structural health monitoring to defence applications, as well for earthquake monitoring to biomedical applications. The main focused research activities of our group includes Raman based distributed optical fiber sensors design, Brillouin based distributed sensors design, distributed acoustic sensing and application of machine learning, Fiber Bragg Grating based sensors systems, hybrid fiber optic sensor systems, fiber laser and spectroscopy based sensor design.

Signal Processing

In signal processing the focus is on adaptive signal processing, advanced modulation formats, filtering and its applications to wireless communication. The work also aimed at designing data-driven modelling and realistic simulation of wireless vehicular network, flying network platforms etc.
