This award was established in 1994 by the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Executive Board to recognize outstanding technical, professional and society contributions on behalf of the power engineer profession. The following areas are considered for comparison of award nominees: Outstanding technical contributions to the power engineering profession, Outstanding professional and leadership contributions to the power engineering profession, Significant contributions to the local community representing the power engineering profession and Outstanding contributions in the area of power engineering education.
