The Winter School RF Bootcamp (approved by Dean-CE) was successfully conducted at SES during 8 – 10 December and 20 December, 2023. This is a one of its kind, 4 day event (3 + 1), aimed towards students. This bootcamp gave a flavour of modern RF and microwave practices, including conceptualization, circuit design, simulations tools, layout design, fabrication, and experimental measurement, motivating students to take up the field of RF and Microwaves. Today, the defence, space, and communications industry needs RF engineers more than ever. India also needs indigenous good RF designers who can reduce our dependence on imports for the above application. This event is a small step towards that direction.

This was our first attempt– we started small with just 12 participants. Not just from IITBBS, we had students from KIIT and OUTR as well. Day 3 (Sunday) ended with students having their designs sent for fabrication, which will be tested on 20 December. It was an engaging experience for them– they were keen to continue even on Sunday evening.

We had Dr. Jogesh C Dash (NIT Rourkela) and Dr. Vinay Narayane (Paras Anti Drone Technologies, Mumbai) as guest speakers and resource persons. It combined the essences of academia and industry. This event is sponsored by IEEE MTT-S under its Ambassador initiative.
